We usually think of art as the type you do in Ms. Rodriguez' class (drawing/painting) or performance art (dance/acting). One type I'd never given much thought to was "sand art." There's a woman from Ukraine (a country near Russia) named Kseniya Simonova, who was a contestant on "Ukraine's Got Talent" (yes, even the Ukraine has their own version of the show). In her performance, she uses sand art to tell the story of Germany conquering Ukraine during WWII and the subsequent German occupation. I've never really seen anything like it... That was really AMAZING. I really couldn't believe that because I thought that maybe they were using some camera tricks on the audience. As I continued to watch I noticed that, the girl was telling a story through the drawings and at the end it all came together. I wasn't aware that people could even do anything thing like this. what channel do they show this at? that was beautiful.

It was something that was only on youtube (and I'm assuming, on tv in the Ukraine)... By the way, towards the end, she writes something in the sand -- in case you're wondering, it translates to "you are always near"...

OHH MY GOD! That was incredible. It’s hard to believe that someone can tell an amazing story out of sand for such a long period of time. I really hope she won. WOW!

This women is amazingly talented. I wish i could do that. It was like a story of a persons life. She has probrably trained for that alot, because she was not messing up. I guess even if she did no one would actually notice because sand art is not perfect. She was moving really fast so imagine if she was to take her tome. I wonder who is better Mrs. Rodriguez or that women !?

Oh my god! That was extraordinary! That was amazing! I loved it! I caught myself watching the video with my mouth open haha. I had never seen that, I like it so much, I'm going to watch it again! One reason I'm going to watch it again is because its just amazing to watch, and because I didn't understand the story... Okay MS.RODRIGUEZ I want to know if you are capable of doing that? If you are... Then that's great! ;) If not, then what kind of art teacher are you?! Ha! I'm kidding please don't fail me. 8)

I thought that was the saddest and the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. She has had to practice at home because every inch of sand so add was the perfect amount. I noticed she constantly drew women and their pain. What I found the most touching out of her art work were the man and woman sitting together all in love and then the bombs hitting. The music went perfect with each drawing that she drew. I wish I could to that. She ended the artwork perfectly and I am glad she won.

Andrew and Katherine, I sent Ms. Rodriguez the "Sand Art" video today... I told her that you guys were wondering if she was better than the sand art lady. She emailed me back... Her exact response was, and I quote, "Bring. It. On." :)

The performance was outstanding. It's nothing I have ever seen before. Sand art is truly amazing. I thought it was creative how the lady created a bittersweet story that had a feeling of peace and disaster. I also thought it was impressive how the music changes so drastically and sudden as the story progresses. What I loved most of all was the confidence and dominance the lady expresses. She was able to win the crowd over and make them feel her pain.
